  • 1 lb thin-sliced bacon
  • 1.5 sleeves buttery rectangular crackers (about 44 crackers)
  • 8 oz block of Parmesan cheese Slice into thin pieces
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar For sprinkling
  • 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes Adjust to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Slice the Parmesan into thin pieces, roughly matching the size of the crackers.
  3. Cut each strip of bacon into quarters.
Assembly
  1. Lay one slice of Parmesan on each cracker and top with a piece of bacon.
  2. Sprinkle with a pinch of brown sugar and a dash of red pepper flakes. Repeat until all crackers are assembled.
Baking
  1. Arrange the topped crackers in a single layer on the wire rack and bake for 35–45 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through.
  2. Start checking at 30 minutes; they are ready when the bacon is crisp and the cracker edges are golden brown.
Serving
  1. Let cool slightly and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

These crackers are best enjoyed fresh but can be made ahead or stored for a few days. Pair with fresh vegetables or dips for a balanced snack.
