Sauce and Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • to taste Salt and pepper to taste
  • to taste Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the Pasta: Start by cooking your pasta according to the package instructions. Be sure to salt the water generously to season the pasta. Once the pasta is al dente, drain it and set it aside. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. Sauté the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and brown on both sides for about 5-7 minutes. Once browned, transfer the sausage to a plate and set it aside.
Making Sauce
  1. Make the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine, then add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes.
Combining
  1. Reintroduce the Sausage and Pasta: Once the sauce has thickened, add the browned sausage back into the skillet. Stir to coat the sausage thoroughly in the sauce for about 3-4 minutes. Add the cooked pasta and toss with the sausage and sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
  2. Season and Garnish: Adjust seasoning to taste with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped parsley and add grated Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze portions in meal-sized containers for up to 2 months. When reheating, add a splash of broth to restore the sauce.
