Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Royal Icing Ingredients
  • 2 large egg whites (pasteurized or meringue powder as alternative) Ensure safe usage.
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • food coloring (optional) Use to color the icing.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients until combined.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into daisy shapes.
Baking
  1. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let the cookies cool completely.
Icing
  1. Prepare royal icing by beating egg whites and gradually adding powdered sugar until it reaches a thick, spreadable consistency.
  2. Decorate the cooled cookies with royal icing and food coloring as desired.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Freeze baked cookies for longer storage. For a healthier version, consider whole grain flour and sugar substitutes.
