Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil until well combined.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the sugar mixture, beating until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll them into balls.
- Roll each ball in powdered sugar until well coated and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes, until the cookies are set and crinkled.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. They can be frozen for up to three months. Serve warm with milk or as a beautiful gift or treat.
