Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and sugar. Whisk them together until well blended.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed butter and beat until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully combined.
- Divide the dough into three parts and color with red, blue, and leave one part white.
- Drop teaspoon-sized amounts of each colored dough onto lined baking sheets and flatten with a cookie cutter.
Baking
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Consider using a sugar substitute for lighter options. These wafers store well in an airtight container for up to a week.
