Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and sugar. Whisk them together until well blended.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed butter and beat until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully combined.
  6. Divide the dough into three parts and color with red, blue, and leave one part white.
  7. Drop teaspoon-sized amounts of each colored dough onto lined baking sheets and flatten with a cookie cutter.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden.
  2. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  3. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Consider using a sugar substitute for lighter options. These wafers store well in an airtight container for up to a week.
