Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar Can substitute with natural sweeteners for a healthier option.
  • 0.5 cups butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cups milk
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cups small chocolate chips (or traditional chocolate sprinkles)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8- or 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, alternating with the milk. Mix until everything is smooth and well combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly, and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. While the cake is still warm, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and press them in gently.
  3. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a lighter option, serve with low-fat whipped cream or a side of fresh fruit. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze individual slices for 2-3 months.
