Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned, approximately 5-6 minutes.
  3. Season the mixture with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, stirring well to combine.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Add the penne or rotini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Reduce the heat and stir in heavy cream and honey BBQ sauce until well combined.
  7. Gradually add shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted.
  8. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

To make it healthier, use turkey or plant-based sausage. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition.
