Mac and Cheese Meatloaf Casserole

A delicious dish combining ground beef and creamy macaroni and cheese that makes for a filling family meal.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef You can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup macaroni Any small pasta shape can be used.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese You may mix different types of cheese for variation.
  • 1/2 cup milk Use whole, skim, or any plant-based milk.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Can use panko for extra crunch.
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg Bind ingredients together.
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For additional flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain well.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked macaroni, half of the cheddar cheese, milk, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix everything together until well combined.
Baking
  1. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Spread it evenly and top with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, until the meatloaf is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days. Can be frozen before baking for up to 3 months.
