Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 large large firm bananas
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (various sizes)
  • 3 kiwis, sliced into rounds
  • 0.3 cups fresh cranberries or red currants
  • 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips or raisins (for eyes & nose)
  • 4 small edible white flowers (optional garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (to prevent browning)
  • 3 tablespoons strawberry coulis or jam (plate base sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 10 toothpicks and skewers (assembly tools)

Method

Preparation
  1. Brush all cut banana surfaces immediately with lemon juice to prevent browning. Keep bananas unpeeled until you’re ready to carve each piece. Work quickly once peeled.
  2. Peel one banana and stand it upright as the torso; score lines to mimic fur texture. Trim the base to stabilize.
  3. Use two more bananas for arms and legs, scoring fur lines and attaching them to the torso with toothpicks.
  4. Shape a smaller banana for the head, attaching it with a toothpick.
  5. Slice strawberries to create the face; use chocolate chips or raisins for eyes and nose.
  6. Slice strawberries for hands and feet, pressing them onto the arm and leg ends.
  7. Create strawberry mushrooms with whole strawberries on top of banana stems, securing them with toothpicks.
  8. Spread strawberry coulis across the serving plate and place the monkey in the center.
  9. Arrange strawberry mushrooms, kiwi slices, and cranberries around the sculpture, adding flowers as decoration.
  10. Dust lightly with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Notes

This fruit sculpture is best served fresh. If storing leftovers, keep the bananas whole and only cut them as needed to maintain freshness.
