Preparation
- Drain maraschino cherries and dry on paper towels.
- Combine softened butter and corn syrup in a mixing bowl. Whip with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add amaretto liquor and mix again.
- Add two cups of powdered sugar, mix until combined. Continue adding powdered sugar until dough reaches a soft Play-Doh consistency.
Shaping
- Take a small ball of dough, slightly bigger than a cherry, and flatten it in your palm.
- Place a dried cherry in the middle, wrap dough around it, ensuring it’s fully covered and sealed.
- Gently roll the ball between your hands to shape, then set aside on parchment paper. Repeat until all cherries are wrapped.
Coating
- Melt dark chocolate with chocolate almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 15-30 second intervals, stirring after each until smooth.
- Carefully dip each wrapped cherry into melted chocolate. Let excess drip off, then set on a parchment-lined sheet.
- After all cherries are dipped and hardened, decorate with additional melted chocolate and sprinkles, if desired.
Notes
Store the cordials in a cool, dry place in an airtight tin or box. If you live in a warm area, keep them in the fridge. Let them come to room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.
