Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 can (15 oz) green beans, drained Can substitute with fresh or frozen green beans.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup Low-sodium or homemade alternatives can be used.
  • ½ cup milk Can use low-fat or unsweetened almond milk.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Reduce amount for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup French fried onions Add towards the end of baking to keep them crispy.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
  2. Remove from oven, sprinkle French fried onions on top, and bake an additional 5–10 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. It can be frozen for up to 2 months. When reheating, add the French fried onions after reheating for optimal crispiness.
