  • 1 sheet Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets Thawed
  • 6 slices Sliced Deli Ham High-quality
  • 6 slices Gruyere Cheese Slices Nutty and slightly sweet
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard Optional for added flavor
  • to taste Everything Bagel Seasoning Optional for extra crunch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C).
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Roll out the thawed puff pastry slightly and cut into six even rectangles.
  5. Whisk the large egg in a bowl and brush the edges of each pastry with the egg wash.
  6. Spread a small amount of Dijon mustard in the center of each rectangle (if using), then layer one slice of Gruyere cheese and one folded slice of deli ham on top.
  7. Fold each pastry over, pressing the edges to seal.
  8. Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with the remaining egg wash.
  9. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can make these pastries ahead of time and freeze them before baking. They can be cooked straight from the freezer. To lower calories, use less cheese or opt for lower-fat deli ham, and consider adding vegetables to the filling.
