Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced (optional) Optional for added flavor
  • 4 rolls hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese Or use alternative cheeses like American or Swiss
Seasoning and Cooking
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 drizzle olive oil for cooking

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions (and bell peppers if using) and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Preheat your broiler.
  5. Slice the hoagie rolls and fill each with the beef mixture. Place two slices of provolone cheese on top of the beef in each roll.
  6. Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your Philly cheesesteaks!

Notes

Store leftover beef filling in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. For freezing, cool completely and use a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
