Preparation
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Add the sliced onions (and bell peppers if using) and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
- Preheat your broiler.
- Slice the hoagie rolls and fill each with the beef mixture. Place two slices of provolone cheese on top of the beef in each roll.
- Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot and enjoy your Philly cheesesteaks!
Notes
Store leftover beef filling in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. For freezing, cool completely and use a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
