  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 pounds sauerkraut, drained
  • 2 pieces green apples, sliced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional) Optional for added flavor

Preparation
  1. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the chops and set them aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the drained sauerkraut, sliced apples, brown sugar, and caraway seeds (if using) to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  6. Nestle the pork chops back into the sauerkraut mixture, ensuring they are partially covered.
  7. Cover the skillet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45-55 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
