Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
Baking
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Allow cookies to cool completely on wire racks.
Frosting
- To make the frosting, beat together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Mix in vanilla extract and add milk as needed to reach the desired consistency.
- Ice the cooled cookies with buttercream and enjoy!
Notes
These cookies can be made healthier by substituting alternative flours or reducing sugar. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
