Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons decorated sugar or sprinkles

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  5. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass, and sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve these cookies in small portions. Pair with fruit or yogurt for a balanced snack. Store in an airtight container; add a slice of bread to keep cookies soft.
