Easy Rice Krispie Baskets

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 5 cups marshmallows
  • 4 tbsp butter For melting and greasing
  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut Optional, for filling
  • 2-4 drops food coloring Optional, for coloring coconut
  • 1/4 tsp water

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Get out and measure your ingredients.
  2. Prepare a muffin pan with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
Melting
  1. In a large saucepan, melt butter over LOW heat.
  2. Add marshmallows, staying at low heat, stir until completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat.
Mixing
  1. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Gently stir until well coated.
Shaping
  1. Divide and press mixture into individual muffin cups creating baskets, as deep or shallow as you want.
  2. Cool and remove from muffin pans.
Filling
  1. Fill cooled nests with colored, shredded coconut, melted chocolate, jelly beans, or chocolate eggs.
Serving
  1. Enjoy every bite.

Notes

Store the baskets in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 to 3 days. Best eaten the day they are made. Do not refrigerate; cold air can make the marshmallow mixture hard. You can freeze plain baskets for up to one month without fillings.
