Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour For a gluten-free option, consider using a gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt Enhances the flavor and controls yeast fermentation.
  • 1 teaspoon Instant Yeast Doesn't require proofing, making it great for beginners.
  • 1.5 cups Warm Water Should feel comfortable to touch, about 110°F or 43°C.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Stir gently to mix well.
  2. Gradually add the warm water while stirring with a spoon or spatula until a shaggy dough starts to form.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 12-18 hours.
Baking
  1. About 30 minutes before you're ready to bake, preheat your Dutch oven in the oven at 450°F (230°C).
  2. Once the dough has rested, turn it out onto a floured surface and gently shape it into a ball.
  3. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven and place the dough into it. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the bread has a golden brown crust.
Cooling
  1. After removing the bread from the oven, transfer it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Once cooled, slice and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter option, add whole wheat flour for added fiber. Store the bread in a paper bag at room temperature for up to three days, or slice and freeze portions for later use.
