Preparation
- Prepare Your Crockpot: Liberally spray the inside of a large crockpot with non-stick cooking spray or use disposable liners.
- Season the Chicken: Trim the fat off the chicken breasts, pat them dry, and season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Mix the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, Italian dressing, light brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk until smooth.
Cooking
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the crockpot. Cover and cook on high for 2.5 to 3 hours or low for 5 to 6 hours.
- Check that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F using a meat thermometer.
Finishing Touches
- Shred the Chicken: Once cooked, shred the chicken in the crockpot using two forks to absorb extra sauce.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve on buns, over rice, in tacos, or enjoy on its own.
Notes
Consider using sugar-free barbecue sauce for lower calories. The shredded chicken can be stored in airtight containers for meal prep.
