  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Enhances flavor and adds calcium.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Provides depth of flavor.
  • 1 tsp Paprika Adds smokiness and color.
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Adds warmth and spiciness.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Essential for enhancing flavors.
For the Egg Wash
  • 2 large Eggs Acts as a binding agent for the breading.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Enhances texture of the egg wash.
Main Ingredients
  • 6 pieces Chicken Drumsticks Main protein source, high in protein.
  • Vegetable Oil for frying Necessary for achieving crispiness.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, crushed cornflakes, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt to create the breading mix.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to make the egg wash.
Coating
  1. Dip each drumstick into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat in the cheesy cornflake mixture.
Frying
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the breaded drumsticks for about 12–15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Serving
  1. Remove the drumsticks from the oil and let them rest on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  2. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

To make this dish healthier, use an air fryer instead of deep frying. For meal prep, these drumsticks hold up well in the fridge for a few days and can be reheated in the oven.
