Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 8-12 large eggs Depending on pan size.
  • 2-3 cups shredded cheese Cheddar, Swiss, or a mix.
  • 1-2 pounds cooked sausage or ham Chopped.
  • 4-6 cups cubed bread or frozen hash browns Use bread for a softer texture or hash browns for a crispy top.
  • 1-2 cups milk or cream For a creamier custard (optional).
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Ingredients
  • vegetables (onions, bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms) Lightly cooked, for added color and flavor.
  • different cheeses Pepper jack, mozzarella, or Gruyere for variations.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and cheese.
  3. Layer the sausage or ham at the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  4. Add a layer of bread or hash browns.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layers.
  6. If desired, add vegetables and additional cheeses on top.
  7. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
Baking
  1. On Christmas morning, bake uncovered for about 30-40 minutes until golden and set.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy with family and friends.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. Freeze baked or unbaked casserole for up to 2-3 months.
