  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Acts as a binder.

  • 1/4 cup Milk Use low-fat milk if desired.
  • 1/4 cup Finely Chopped Onion Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential for seasoning.
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper To taste.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Adds umami flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Used in the mixture and as a topping.
Toppings
  • 2 cups Prepared Mashed Potatoes Can use homemade or store-bought.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese For cheesy goodness.
  • 4 slices Cooked Bacon, crumbled Adds crunch and smoky flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Green Onions or Chives Optional garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease your baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and half of the ketchup. Mix well.
  3. Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish and spread the remaining ketchup on top.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the meat is cooked through.
  5. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meatloaf layer, then add the shredded cheese and crumbled bacon.
  6. Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven, garnish with green onions or chives if desired, and allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, use ground turkey or chicken. Perfect for meal prep; store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
