  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced Simple thin slices work best.
  • 1 onion, chopped Adds flavor to the casserole.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Use your preferred type of cheese.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with other cream soups.
  • 1 cup milk For mixing with the soup.
Seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Adds a mild sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until the onion is translucent. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Stir in the cooked beef mixture.
Layering
  1. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with a green side salad or steamed vegetables for added color and freshness. Store leftovers in the fridge or freeze for later use.
