Main Ingredients
  • 8 oz penne pasta Use any pasta shape you prefer.
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced Feel free to substitute with chicken or turkey sausage.
  • 1 medium bell pepper, diced Any color bell pepper will work.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream Substitute with coconut cream for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Add more cheese if desired.
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning Adjust to taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by boiling water in a large pot. Add the penne pasta and cook according to the package instructions. Once done, drain the pasta and set it aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook everything until the vegetables are softened, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and sprinkle the Cajun seasoning into the skillet. Stir together and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the cooked penne pasta and shredded cheese to the skillet. Stir until the pasta is coated in the creamy sauce and everything is well combined.
  6. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  7. Before serving, sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a fresh touch.

Notes

Cajun Sausage Pasta is best served hot. Pair it with a green salad or garlic bread for a complete meal. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days.
