Ingredients
  

For the cookie bars
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (brown butter)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Sea salt (for sprinkling on top) For finishing

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts to brown. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with sea salt.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Let cool before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

Serve warm for melty chocolate or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
