Preparation
- Grease an 8x8" baking dish with a little butter to prevent sticking.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Core and peel the apples, then cut them into slices. Toss slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the sliced apples to the bowl with the sugar mixture. Toss to coat the apple slices evenly.
- Transfer the coated apples into the prepared baking dish, distributing evenly.
- Top the apples with pats of butter.
Baking
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for one hour, or until the apples are brown and soft.
Notes
For a healthier option, use less brown sugar or a natural sweetener. These baked apples are great for meal prep, snack, or dessert. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
