Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pastry dough on a floured surface. Cut into squares large enough to wrap around each apple.
  3. Peel and core the apples.
  4. In a bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Sprinkle generously inside each apple.
  5. Wrap each apple in a pastry square and seal tightly.
  6. Arrange wrapped dumplings in a baking dish, ensuring they have space between them.
Baking
  1. In a bowl, mix melted butter, water, and any remaining brown sugar. Pour over the dumplings.
  2. Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
  3. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, use whole wheat flour for more fiber. These dumplings freeze well, bake before freezing, and reheat in the oven.
